Ronnie and his brother Ryan
Many people like to ask about how Metropolis came to be, so I thought I’d give you all some background on Ronnie.
My cousin, Ronnie, is the youngest of 3 and was born in 1994 with pretty serious food allergies. He was always very skinny and tiny, though he made up for it with personality (once he got to know you). It was thanks to him that our family became educated on food: before that we would just eat anything and not think twice about it, but Ronnie taught us to pay attention and recognize ingredients: what was harmful, what could be eaten safely, and how both of those categories affected our bodies.
I had always been a lover of skincare products and cosmetics, so it was only a matter of time before label reading became a normalcy for me when it came to beauty products. What was Titanium Dioxide, what was cornstarch doing in my powder, how did Vitamin E really contribute to the product I was buying? I began to seek out products with specific ingredients, and when I couldn’t find what I was looking for in ONE product, I started to research making my own. And after years of testing, playing, learning, failing, and perfecting, Metropolis Soap Company was launched.
And it was all thanks to one little guy who spawned a food movement in my family.
